CRIN Strategic Management Retreat

The Executive Director (ED) of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Dr. Patrick Adebola, in his quest to continue to build a management team that will be able to support the Institute in its drive to sustain its vision and mission, facilitated a 2- day highly intensive management retreat from Thursday, March 3 to Friday March 4, 2022 in an off-site location in Conference Hotel, Sagamu, Ogun State. The Institute contracted ABNIF Professional Services to plan and implement this retreat. The theme of the retreat was: “Strategy planning, implementation and management”.

 

The objectives of the retreat were to build the capacity of CRIN management team to: i) review, redefine and reset the strategic vision and mission statements of the Institute; ii) design a strategic plan document that will drive the expected achievements; iii) assess performance and development key performance indicators that will help to track, monitor, and measure performance and iv) address the issue of funding and develop other sources that can enhance the financial capacity of the Institute.

At the end of the retreat, the management team was able to review CRIN vision and mission statements to align with current realities. The vision is: To be a centre of excellence of international repute in the research and development of Cashew, Cocoa, Coffee, Kola and Tea. Our mission statements are: a) To apply science and technology in increasing productivity, improving quality and value addition of Cashew, Cocoa, Coffee, Kola and Tea; b) To disseminate research findings through extension services and capacity building of stakeholders towards enhancing national development.
